Battery Cabinets

At JiWa, you’ll find three models of battery cabinets designed for charging and storage with high safety standards.

  • F90 fire-rated battery cabinet – for those seeking significantly higher safety, for example in sensitive environments. The cabinet can be equipped with a fire suppression system, alarm, and more.
  • Fire-insulated and fire-tested battery cabinet – equipped with an alarm, perforated shelves and internal electrical wiring to power strips.
  • JiWaCharge – E-bike battery cabinet – a compartmentalized charging cabinet designed for outdoor use, meeting the highest corrosion class, C5. Standard version includes individual charging compartments with code locks.

These cabinets are sometimes referred to as “battery charging cabinets,” “charging cabinets,” or “charging cabinets for batteries.”

Battery Cabinets for Charging & Storage

There are three main risks associated with lithium-ion batteries. You can reduce these risks by using a purpose-designed battery cabinet for charging and storage. The risks are:

  1. Thermal runaway

This can cause the battery itself to catch fire. Thermal runaway leads to an accelerating increase in temperature. It can be slowed by cooling and prevented from open flames, but it cannot be stopped until the stored energy is depleted. Runaway can also be triggered by mechanical or electrical impact, short circuits within the battery cells, or exposure to heat.

  1. Emission of hazardous gases

Gas emissions from batteries can be toxic, self-igniting/explosive, or intensify a fire.

  1. ARe-ignition of a burned battery

A burned battery that has not been sufficiently cooled can cause a fire to reignite after it has been extinguished..

Prevent fire and thermal runaway by:

  • Only using approved chargers
  • Avoiding prolonged charging of fully charged batteries
  • Protecting batteries from mechanical damage and avoiding the use of damaged batteries
  • Preventing fire by keeping flammable materials away from charging batteries

Reduce the risk of fire and thermal runaway by:

  • Charging batteries in a fire-separated area
  • Charging in cabinets designed specifically for this purpose
